— An 87-year-old Janesville man died Friday from a stroke after developing blood clots from a head injury he received in a car crash three days earlier, according to Rock County Sheriff's Office reports.

Frank S. Godfrey, 1934 Revere Lane, was driving a car on Highway 59 at 6 p.m. Nov. 23 when he rear-ended a pickup truck driven by Alexander T. Coffman, 21, of 9806 N. Clear Lake Road, Milton, according to reports.

Coffman was legally stopped on Highway 59 while waiting to turn left onto Clear Lake Road, according to reports.

Godfrey was bleeding from his face after the crash, and he was taken to Mercy Hospital and Trauma Center in Janesville, according to reports.

Coffman was not taken to the hospital.

At the hospital, Godfrey was alert and conscious. He was being treated for a laceration on his forehead, according to reports.

Three days later, Godfrey's relative told a deputy that Godfrey developed two blood clots in his brain from a head injury suffered in the crash, according to reports.

The relative said Godfrey had a stroke and brain hemorrhage, causing him to die at the hospital.
