Elderly Beloit couple robbed at gunpoint in own home
Beloit police are warning residents to keep the doors locked, even when they're home, after a home invasion and robbery of an elderly couple this week.
Captain Vince Sciame says at least two armed men entered a home in the 1300 block of Emerson Street Wednesday night around 8:00 o'clock. Sciame says the couple were forced to the floor, and if the man tried to get up, a suspect would put a shoe to his back. The suspects went through the couple's pockets and even stripped a ring from the man's finger. The home was ransacked to the point it was difficult to tell what was stolen.
Earlier in the evening a young woman came to the door asking to use the phone, claiming she'd been in an accident. This attack follows a recent warning by police of a rash of home burglaries at all times of the day and night.
Police say at least one suspect was wearing a mask and in the excitement the couple never got a good look at their attackers.
