The City of Janesville promotes water conservation. Janesville city officials appear pleased with a water conservation rebate program.

Water Utility Director Dan Lynch says the six-month old program, to award rebates to home-owners for installing more water efficient fixtures, is slowly catching on. Lynch considers the program a benefit for all residents. He says the program raises awareness about the importance of clean water, and preserving this limited resource.

In the first six months of the program, the city has doled out more than 80 checks totaling about $5000.
