Janesville Parker Vikings finish with victory
The Vikings (4-17, 3-15) completed their Big Eight Conference season with a 2-1 victory over Madison East at Dawson Field, giving them three wins in the last four games.
Maggie Tracey pitched a four-hitter, and Alyssa Byford doubled home the winning run as Parker rallied from an early 1-0 deficit.
East got its run in the first inning, but Parker tied it in the second after singles by Tracey and Jensen Henke. Tracey and courtesy runner Stephanie Miller advanced on an infield out, and Natalie McDonald singled home the tying run.
Ashley Ross was hit by a pitch and advanced on Jackie Ludois’ sacrifice to spark Parker’s third inning. Cierra Carney’s single put runners on first and third, and Byford followed with her double to right field that put the Parker on top and completed the scoring.
“We stranded eight runners, and I wasn’t happy about that,’’ Parker coach Jenni Seisser said. “But from this game, that’s the only thing I’d say we need to improve on—getting more hits when we have runners on base.
“As a team, we’ve cut down on our errors, and we’re hitting the ball,” Seisser said.
