Tyler Teubert and Katherine Brossard have been named the top senior athletes at Janesville Parker High School.

They received the American Legion Athletic Medal, presented by the Richard Ellis Post, at the school's senior awards ceremony Wednesday night.

Teubert is the son of Kristi Wiese and Roger Teubert. Brossard is the daughter of Edward and Leah Brossard.

The annual Legion award, based on athletic participation and citizenship, has been presented in Janesville since 1922. It has been given at Parker and Craig High each year since the school split in 1967 and is in its 23rd year as a co-ed award.

It will be presented tonight at Craig.

Catie O'Leary immediately preceded Brossard on the Parker girls Legion honor roll. Teubert follows Ross Mauermann as Parker's 43rd male recipient.

Teubert earned his Legion award by winning seven letters. After this season, he will have received three in baseball, along with two each in football and basketball.

As the Vikings' most valuable player and captain in basketball this past season, Teubert made the third team in the coaches' All-Big Eight selections. He also was a basketball captain as a junior and received the team's "hustle" as a junior and senior.

Teubert was Parker's football quarterback and directed the Vikings to a 6-3 record in the Big Eight and a WIAA playoff berth as a senior. As a highlight of his senior baseball season, he pitched a no-hitter against Madison West this month.

Brossard, who will attending Upper Iowa University of a golf scholarship, won five varsity letters. They included four in golf, where she was voted her team's most valuable player the last two years, and one in softball.

Brossard, also a four-time "most dedicated" selection in Parker golf, helped lead the Vikings to the school's first-ever WIAA girls state tournament berth last fall. She was a four-time all-conference golf selection, including twice as a first-team pick, and was on three Big Eight championship teams and one regional title team.

Along with her Legion honor, Brossard was cited as the school's female nominee for the WIAA Scholar/Athlete Award. She also received the U.S. Army Reserve Scholar/Athlete Award, a Parker Athletic Booster Club scholarship, the George Clatworthy Riverside Men's Golf Association Scholarship, the Riverside Men's Scholarship and her Upper Iowa scholarship.

Teubert's honors also included the Michael Grogan Memorial Scholarship, the Joel M. Bumgarner-Most Dedicated Baseball Player Scholarship, and the Moore Family Scholarship.

Calvin Nauer joined Brossard as Parker's male nominee for the WIAA Scholar/Athlete Award. Nauer, the son of George and Michele Nauer, also received a Parker Athletic Booster Club scholarship.

Ryan Shelton, the son of Ronald Shelton and Carrie Shelton, joined Brossard in receiving the U.S. Army Reserve award.
