— It will go down as the game that "might have been" for Janesville Parker High School.

The Vikings, trailing Madison Memorial, 6-3, had the bases loaded with no outs in the top of the seventh inning when a rainstorm abruptly ended the Big Eight Conference baseball game.

"We waited 20 minutes, and it really started raining," Parker coach Brian Martin said.

The game will go into the books as a 6-3 victory in six innings for the Spartans. The loss dropped Parker to 6-11 in the Big Eight and 11-13 overall.

Parker took a 3-2 lead in the third inning on Matt Fiedler's two-run double and Kyle Johnson's RBI fielder's choice. Memorial added two runs in the fourth to take the lead for good, 4-3.

Parker starter Tyler Teubert allowed four runs—three earned—on eight hits through the first 4 1/3 innings.

"It wasn't a good outing, considering the way he has been throwing, but we didn't do him any favors defensively," Martin said.

The Vikings are scheduled to host Middleton at 5 p.m. today to conclude the Big Eight season.
