Board expels three students

— The Janesville School Board expelled three students Tuesday. They are:

-- A middle school student who was accused of distributing alcohol on school grounds, expelled through the end of this year's summer school. He or she could apply to return to school earlier after fulfilling conditions that include a drug/alcohol assessment, counseling and taking any prescribed medications.


-- A middle school student, accused of fighting on school grounds, expelled through the end of this year's summer school. He or she could apply to return to school earlier after fulfilling conditions that include obtaining an assessment from the Rock County Community Youth Network, getting counseling with diversity and bullying elements and taking any prescribed medications.


-- A high school student, accused of possession with intent to deliver marijuana on school grounds, expelled through the end of summer school in 2011. She or he may apply to return in September after fulfilling conditions that include an alcohol/drug assessment, counseling, taking any prescribed medications and applying for entrance to the TAGOS Leadership Academy or the Truancy Abatement and Transitional Education Center.


This brings to 27 the number of students expelled this school year, compared with 31 at this time last year.
