Public can meet BTC president candidates

The public is invited to meet candidates to be the new president of Blackhawk Technical College during a series of community information sessions in June.


The meet-and-greets are scheduled at the central campus and at the campus in Monroe.


BTC District Board Chairman Tom Westrick urged district residents to attend.


"The district board welcomes any insight you may have on these individuals," Westrick said in a news release.


"The comments and feedback shared with us will be very important as the board moves forward in making its final selection."


Each candidate will appear at the Monroe campus in the morning and the central campus in the afternoon. Here's the schedule:


-- Tuesday, June 8—Bruce Exstrom, president of Allegany College of Maryland in Cumberland.


-- Wednesday, June 9—Sheila Ruhland, vice president of instruction at Rockingham Community College in Wentworth, N.C.


-- Tuesday, June 15—Thomas Eckert, president of Bellingham Technical College in Bellingham, Wash.


-- Thursday, June 17—Kathleen Brock, dean of instruction at Ridgewater College in Willmar and Hutchinson, Minn.


-- Monday, June 21—Mark Curtis, vice president of instruction at Alpena Community College in Alpena, Mich.


-- Tuesday, June 22—Harry Muir, vice president of instruction at Pima Community College in Tucson, Ariz.


The Monroe campus sessions will be from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. in Room 413 at 210 4th Ave., Monroe.


The central campus sessions will be from 2 to 3:30 p.m. The first five sessions will be in the Blackhawk Room, Room 1315, of the central campus, 6004 S. County G between Janesville and Beloit.


The final central-campus session on June 22 will be in the Triangle Room, Room 1400A.
