Kernels pull away, rout Snappers

— The Cedar Rapids Kernels pounded the Beloit Snappers, 14-2, in Midwest League baseball Sunday at Pohlman Field.

The loss dropped the Snappers (25-19) 1˝ games behind the Kernels (25-18) for first place in the Western Division.


Leading 1-0 after three innings, the Kernels pulled away to 10-2 lead after six innings.


Cedar Rapids had 15 hits to Beloit’s seven. The Kernels hit four doubles, two triples and three home runs.


Beloit starter Miguel Munoz (1-3) allowed four runs on six hits through the first four innings to take the loss.
