— Cody Steed continues to dominate Big Eight baseball hitters.

The Janesville Craig junior picked up another win Thursday, retiring nine of the 11 batters he faced, as the Cougars upended Madison East, 7-3.

Craig High (13-8, 10-6) tied the game at 3-3 in the fifth before taking the lead for good with three in the sixth as the Cougars jumped up to third place in the conference.

Steed did the rest, as he mowed down the Purgolders, allowing only one hit in three innings.

"Cody was lights out again," Craig coach Victor Herbst said. "He was around the plate, and he had total control of his pitches. He has been unbelievable for us."

The Cougars took the lead for good on Mitch Perkins' RBI groundout, and added two more on a passed ball and Christian DeCremer's RBI triple. DeCremer finished with four hits as part of Craig's 10-hit attack.

Craig plays Fort Atkinson in a nonconference doubleheader Saturday at Riverside Park, starting 11 a.m.
