Hermsen, Snappers edge Cougars

B.J. Hermsen’s first start at Pohlman Field was a successful one.


The Beloit righthander pitched seven scoreless innings to lead the Snappers to a 3-2 Midwest League win over the Kane County Cougars.


Beloit took the lead for good on Angel Morales’ two-run single in the sixth and added an insurance run in the eighth.


Kane County scored twice in the ninth before Kane Holbrooks came on to pick up his fifth save of the season.


The Snappers begin a four-game series with Cedar Rapids tonight at Pohlman Field.
