Snappers maintain lead

— The Beloit Snappers defeated the visiting Kane County Cougars, 4-2, Wednesday for a one-game lead on Peoria for first place in the Western Division of the Midwest League baseball league.

The Snappers stole four bases in five attempts to highlight the victory.


Starter Brad Stillings (3-2) allowed two runs on five hits through 5 1/3 innings to pick up the victory. Dakota Watts and Matt Tone combined to hold the Cougars scoreless in 3 2/3 innings of relief with Tone earning his first save.


The Snappers scored twice in the fifth inning on Angel Morales’ RBI single and a wild pitch for the final margin of victory.
