Parker pitcher throws a one-hit shutout
Kersten gave up the Purgolders' lone hit in the fourth inning after surrendering a lead-off walk. East loaded the bases with one out, but Kersten notched one of his 10 strikeouts and got a pop out to end the inning.
The victory lifted Parker to 5-9 in the Big Eight and 9-10 overall. The Vikings have won four out of their last five games.
"Kersten had a great fastball," Parker coach Brian Martin said. "He was getting ahead of the hitters, and everything was going for him."
The Vikings posted a four-run rally in the fourth inning to take a 5-0 lead. Jake Welch belted a two-run triple and Kyle Johnson ripped a double to score Welch to highlight the inning.
Parker had 10 hits, including Taran Kobs' 4-for-4 performance.
"We are starting to put things together," said Martin. "Our biggest thing has been our defense has been pretty solid in the last five games."
Parker will face Janesville Craig this afternoon at Riverside Park.
