Beloit's Assistant City Manager dies

— Beloit's Assistant City Manager is dead at age 52 after suffering a heart attack.

Steve Gregg, participated in a biathlon in Beloit Saturday and afterwards told friends he didn't feel well. He died at Beloit Memorial Hospital Saturday afternoon.

Gregg's nearly 20 year career with the city spanned four city managers. He started in 1991 as an Associate Planner when Dave Wilcox was city manager. He moved into the Assistant City Manager role when Tom Kelley replaced Wilcox and remained in that position during Jane Wood's employment and Beloit's current City Manager, Larry Arft.

Prior to working for the city, Gregg was Senior Development Officer for Beloit College and was acting Vice President of External Affairs at the college when he was hired by the city.
