A new Rock County Sheriff's program may offer peace of mind to some families.

Rock County families worried a loved one might wander off may soon have a new safeguard. Rock County Sheriff's Captain Russ Steeber says "Project Lifesaver" will provide wristbands with locator signals to some families with members suffering from Dementia, Autism, or Alzheimer's. A simple phone call to the 911 Center would activate a response team with a tracking device. Typically the missing person is found within 30 minutes. Steeber says, in the past, searches could take days, often with tragic results.

The program with start with about 20 wristbands this summer.
