— Nothing was decided in 80 minutes of regulation and two overtimes in Thursday night’s Big Eight Conference girls soccer game between Madison East and Janesville Craig.

The two teams played to a 0-0 tie, despite opportunities for the Cougars in both overtimes.

“We were close twice, but their goalie made a couple of great saves to deny us,” Craig High coach Bill McCabe said. “Monica Speth nearly had one in the first overtime, and Kristi Crandall had another great chance in the second overtime.

“And Amanda (Hamilton) played great in goal for us. It was just a very close game between two pretty even teams.”

Craig (6-8-3, 3-3-1) plays a nonconference game at Mukwonago tonight.

-- La Follette 9, Parker 0—Janesville Parker was shut out in the Big Eight game as Madison La Follette jumped out to a 5-0 halftime lead.

Parker, despite quality scoring chances in each half, fell to 0-9 on the season and 0-7 in the Big Eight.

“Once we can find the net and get a taste of it, I think that’s going to make a big difference,” Parker coach Amy Wargowsky said.

“I told the girls afterward that we’re not as bad as we played tonight. This was a very physical game, and I think our girls got down on themselves early on.”

Parker will host an eight-team invitational Saturday. The Vikings play Southern Lakes Conference power Delavan-Darien in their first game at 9:30 a.m.
