Agnew, Fort turn back Janesville Craig
Fort Atkinson starter Alex Agnew had the Cougars’ number.
“We were off balance and not patient,” Craig coach Dan Bayreuther said. “(Agnew) changed speeds and we never got to her.
“We looked like a team that hadn’t played for three days,” Bayreuther added. “But give Agnew credit. She kept us off balance.
Craig’s Paige Weber and Paige Owens combined to scatter seven hits. The tandem combined for seven strikeouts, and neither pitcher issued a walk.
“We had our chances, but Fort made a couple of key plays,” Bayreuther said.
The loss dropped Craig to
12-4 overall, while Fort Atkinson improved to 14-2.
Craig travels to Middleton this afternoon.
