Tremper continues mastery of Craig soccer
Janesville Craig has always had trouble defeating Kenosha Tremper in girls soccer, and that trend continued Saturday.
Haley Celebre scored three times and added an assist as the Trojans shut out the Cougars, 6-0, in a nonconference game.
“We always seem to meet them in the sectional, and to my knowledge, we have never beaten them,” said Craig coach Bill McCabe. “I really thought we would play with them, and we did until the first goal.”
Celebre scored just over than 29 minutes into the game, and the Cougars then gave up two more goals in the remaining 16 minutes of the half, including one in the final second.
“We had a meltdown after that first goal that lasted the rest of the game,” McCabe said. “It’s just a matter of having to push through things like that. We need to work through it and stay focused the entire game.”
Tremper (8-5-1) is coached by Craig graduate Todd Hardy.
Craig fell to 6-8-2 overall.
