— Janesville Parker High School’s softball team posted a 5-4 victory over visiting Lake Geneva Badger on Wednesday for its first win of the season.

The nonconference victory lifted Parker to 1-11.

Parker took a 2-0 lead but committed two errors in the third inning, and Badger gained a 3-2 lead.

The Vikings bounced back with three runs in the fourth on four singles and two wild pitches to take the lead for good, 5-3.

Lauren Brooks’ bunt single got the Vikings rolling. Ashley Ross singled, Jackie Ludois added an RBI bunt single, and Alyssa Byford ripped an RBI single to complete the Vikings’ scoring.

Parker starter Maggie Tracey survived the tough third inning and a sixth-inning solo home run to gain the victory. Tracey allowed six hits, posted seven strikeouts and walked four.

“Our pitchers have been pitching well, but it’s just a matter of what defense shows up,” Parker coach Jenni Seisser said, noting the Vikings committed only two errors. “The difference was keeping the number of errors down. We’ll be in games when we keep the errors down.’’

Ross and Brooks had to hits each to led the Vikings’ seven-hit attack.

Parker plays at Verona at 5 p.m. Friday.
