— Rock County Christian School invites people from surrounding communities to pray for America with its students as they mark the annual National Day of Prayer on Thursday.

The event will include messages from local pastors and prayer led by RCCS students. It is set for 10:45 to 11:45 a.m. Thursday at the gazebo in the Horace White Park.

The park is in downtown Beloit, bordered by Grand Avenue, College Street, Bushnell Street and Park Avenue.

The event’s theme is based on the verse in Nahum 1:7, “The Lord is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in him.”

“Rock County Christian School wants our community to know that we are praying for them,” event coordinator Kevin Thompson said in a news release. “As we try to navigate our way through a shaky economy, high unemployment rates, struggling families and a political landscape suffering from divisive and contentious rhetoric, we need God’s wisdom. We have set aside this day especially to ask the Lord for His wisdom in tackling these problems.”

In case of rain, the service will take place in the Rock County Christian School gymnasium, 916 Bushnell St.
