Janesville Parker collects tennis victory
Janesville Parker High School rallied to defeat host Sun Prairie, 4-3, in Big Eight Conference boys tennis Tuesday.
The Vikings split the singles matches, but won two of three doubles matches to seal the victory.
Craig Spangler and Codi Papcke won key three-set victory at No. 1 doubles over the Cards’ Zach Atkins and Sam Clarke, 6-3, 5-7, 6-2.
“It came down the the three-set victory for Codi and Craig,” Parker coach Mike Fuhrmann said. “They did a great job.’’
Nick Gilbank and Ian Weiland followed with a 6-3, 6-4 victory at No. 2 doubles to seal the victory.
“We got Nick back from injury,” Fuhrmann said. “That was key. They did a great job, too.’’
Parker (2-3) hosts Janesville Craig at 4:15 p.m. Thursday.

“That’s the best team we’ve played all year, by far,” Craig coach Justin Long said.
“But I’m proud of our guys. They stayed competitive and didn’t give up. They played hard all the way through.”
The Cougars will play at crosstown rival Janesville Parker at 4:15 p.m. Thursday.
