ELKHORN Police have apprehended a man they suspect committed two robberies last week, officials said Monday.
Justin J. Deleo, 22, was arrested Friday and booked on accusations of armed robbery, according to Walworth County Jail administration officials. Deleo, who listed a Silver Lake address, is being held on $20,000 cash bond.
The first crime occurred at a BP gas station at 195 E. Commerce Drive, Elkhorn. The robber was armed with a knife and demanded cash from the cashier. He left the gas station with an undisclosed amount of cash on what police believed to be a Pontiac Grand Prix.
Hours later, a man with a similar description robbed the China One restaurant, 1807 E. Geneva St, Delavan. The crime happened about 8:30 p.m. Thursday. The man fled in what was described as a newer model, red Dodge Ram pickup truck.
Delavan Police Chief Tim O’Neill said Friday morning that the two police departments were yet to determine if the two crimes were committed by the same perpetrator, but they were working closely to solve the two cases.
On Monday, the departments released a joint statement saying they had arrested suspect in the cases.
