— Janesville Parker’s baseball team got back on the winning track Friday afternoon.

The Vikings overcame an early 2-0 deficit with a three-run fifth and hung on for a 5-3 nonconference win over Oconomowoc.

Tyler Teubert, Tanner Moe and Aaron Polzin drove in runs for Parker High, while Josh Garcia picked up the win with three-plus innings of effective relief as the Vikings snapped a four-game losing streak.

“We finally got some clutch hits tonight and played error-free ball,” Parker coach Brian Martin said. “When we can play good, fundamental baseball, we’re not a bad team.

“Oconomowoc was ranked 10th in the preseason poll, so to come in here and get a win is a big plus for this team. We can, hopefully, put the losing streak behind us.”

Parker took the lead for good in the third on a passed ball, Polzin’s RBI single, and Teubert’s RBI double. Moe’s RBI single in the seventh gave Parker (5-6) an insurance run, and it added one more on a balk.

The Vikings play at Beloit Memorial on Tuesday in a Big Eight Conference game.
