— One open seat on the Traver School Board will go to a write-in candidate on April 6.

Incumbent Steven Mack, who has served on the school board since 2001, did not file a statement of non-candidacy by the deadline in January.

Also, no district residents filed papers by the extended deadline, said District Administrator Mary DeYoung.

A couple people have expressed interest in serving on the school board, but none is campaigning as a registered write-in candidate, she said.

This is the first time in more than 15 years that the district has had an empty ballot, DeYoung said.
