— Daniel Nevin of Delavan thought he had found his lucky slot machine when he won $1,000 two weeks ago at the Ho Chunk Casino near Wisconsin Dells.

He was wise to trust his intuition.

Nevin returned to play the same machine Friday, and he won $1.34 million.

“I wasn’t sure, but I thought I won,” Nevin said in a news release. “The machine said ‘Call attendant,’ so I wasn’t sure.”

The Delavan man said he played a $5 progressive Wheel of Fortune slot machine. He put in $20 because of his good luck with the machine previously.

“I stop every other weekend,” he said. “I was on my way to visit my parents.”

Nevin said he was most excited about sharing news of his winning with his wife.

“I cannot describe her reaction,” he added.

Nevin said he wants to use the money to take care of his loved ones.

This is the first million-dollar prize awarded at Ho Chunk Casino this year, and the seventh of more than $1 million ever at the casino.

The Gazette was unable to reach Nevin for comment on Monday.
