The number of expulsions in the Janesville School District are running well behind last year at this time.
The numbers are down about 25% from last year, despite a recent round of expulsions involving extremely dangerous behavior. Two high school students were expelled this month for their involvement in what administrators describe as a gang fight. One student will not be eligible for reinstatement. Another high school student was expelled for possessing marijuana on school grounds, and a middle school student is out until at least next year for brining a knife to school.
18 students have been expelled this year, compared to 24-last year.
