The chairmen of the Rock and Green County boards have appointed two people to the Blackhawk Technical College Board.

The chairmen re-appointed Lauri M. Steeber of Janesville in the employee-member category and new member John J. Waelti of Monroe in the additional-member category. Both are appointed for three-year terms.

Steeber is a lieutenant with the Wisconsin State Patrol. She has served on the BTC Board since 2004.

Waelti, who replaces Jim Munro, is a retired college professor highly involved in civic activities in Monroe. He retired in 2005 from Sultan Qaboos University in Oman, where he was professor and head of the department of agricultural economics and rural studies.

Waelti and Steeber will be sworn in at the annual meeting on Monday, July 12, and are subject to confirmation by the Wisconsin Technical College System Board.

A third vacancy on the board could not be filled because none of the applicants met the requirements for the employer-member category. Applications are being accepted for that position.

Applications also are being accepted for a new opening on the board. Chris Olsen of Janesville recently announced he is stepping down.

Because of the board’s plan of representation, Rock County residents must fill both of the open seats.

Application forms can be obtained by contacting Jackie Pins at BTC, 6004 S. County G, Janesville, 53547; by calling (608) 757-7772 or by e-mailing jpins@blackhawk.edu.

I'm sorry, I mean fourth opening being vacated by Chris Olsen.

I am just frustrated with 2 conflicting articles back-to-back.

I have some confusion.

In the previous article from yesterday (http://gazettextra.com/news/2010/mar/18/...), it said there were 2 positions that were open and that BTC was looking to fill, one "employer" type and one "additional" type. Today, the article says an employer and additional have been filled but a third, completely unspecified position is open.

Could we have a more fact-oriented article? Were the positions in the above article the ones that were announced in yesterday's article? And is the 3 position limited to an employer type of person or is it an "additional" person that is just general Rock country resident?

Clear and precise info is appreciated. Thank you.
