Fire
-- BRUSH FIRE at 8524 N. Casey Road, Porter Township, at about 2 p.m. Thursday. Edgerton and Evansville firefighters responded after a burn in the ditch line got out of control. The fire burned 20 to 30 acres of corn field, Edgerton Fire Chief Brian Demrow said.
-- GARAGE FIRE at 110 E. State St., Janesville, at about 7 p.m. Thursday. Firefighters say the fire started after the homeowners, Lisa Rhea and Katherine Tincher, extinguished a fire in a pit in the yard and stored the ashes in the garage. A 2001 Ford SUV, parked in the detached garage, sustained heavy damage. Total damage estimate is $20,000, Janesville Fire Department officials said.
