WCLO's Stan Stricker reports on an increase in the number of tax foreclosure properties

RSS

The rate of tax foreclosures in Rock County appears on the rise.

Since property owners get a couple years to pay off their taxes, County Treasurer Vicki Brown is currently working on 2006 delinquencies. What's remarkable, is the increased number of foreclosures in just one year's time went from 85 in 2005, to 170 in 2006. Brown believes because some property owners wait to pay, they've been caught short by the current economy.

Brown believes if the unemployment rate levels off, so will the number of tax foreclosures.
