— Two Milton teens have been arrested after police found graffiti in parks and on buildings around the city.

It could cost several thousand dollars to fix the damage, according to a news release from the Milton Police Department.

Police on Sunday referred two teens to juvenile authorities on charges of felony criminal damage to property. The investigation is ongoing, and it appears others could also be responsible for the damage, the release states.

At 1 a.m. Sunday, police found spray-painted graffiti on the CESA 2 building at 448 E. High St., Milton.

More graffiti was reported throughout the day. The pavilion at Schilberg Park on High Street was sprayed as was Pak-Fresh, 245 E. Madison Ave. Private homes and cars also were targeted.

Much of the graffiti was vulgar and was made to appear as if it was gang related, the release states.

If anyone has information about the incidents, they can call the Milton Police Department at (608) 868-6910 or (608) 757-2244.

Maybe they're not local -- locals would know to just go and paint the rock.

I don't understand why some of you are discussing "artwork". This story is about Milton teens being arrested for "felony criminal damage to property". I wouldn't care if they flawlessly reproduced the Mona Lisa - it's on somebody else's property. It's a crime. They need to clean it up, or pay for it to be cleaned up. And then start serving their jail time.

happycamper I saw some of the "artwork" these kids did and trust me when I say they are not very good. And it was all vulgar not much art in that.I will give them something to do....toothbrush and soap get scrubbing kids every last bit of it. That should keep them busy for awhile.

No one is "talanted" enough to deface private property. For crying out loud, ya wanna bet the parents will just blow this stunt off as "kids will be kids". They have that stupid ROCK in front of the high school! USE that!

Punks!

Ummmmm.....No thanks. There are not many ways that I would aspire us to be more like Europe. Instead, let's find out if the parents of these jerks knew what they were doing. My guess is, they didn't....and THAT'S the problem. And please don't say that Milton kids need "more things to do" or this and the drugs will continue. I grew up without the often suggested "things to do", usually at the expense of taxpayers. Popping a pill or destroying somebody's property was never even a THOUGHT.

Not a bad idea actually... However, I highly doubt these "kids" were expressing their creativity. Vulgarity is NOT art, in my opinion!

As long as we've adopted Europes roundabouts lets also adopt their grasp of public graffiti. Graffiti was so bad they had to address the problem yet, they noticed they had many talanted artists but it was gang griffiti. In an attempt to offer some hope to the Graffitist's they allowed the artists, to subitt artwork to the City for approval (no gang related artwork). Public walkways with bridges (similar to Ice Age Trail)are where the artwork is displayed. Once approved they have one day to complete (they have several weekends to choose from). Using the walkways during painting time is fun to see, everyone has on masks, they only use spray paint. It takes about 15 people to get the job done in the alloted day. The artwork is on display for sometime (months, years?).
Are Janesville/ Milton graffittist's talanted enough and would the city grasp this idea?
