March rains could increase Rock River water levels
With the National Weather Service predicting rain for the next few days, Janesville Operations Director John Whitcomb is watching the water levels on the Rock River closely.
He says the the water is predicted to reach flood stage at Afton by late next week.
Rock County's U-W Extension Crops and Soils Agent Jim Stute says the rains won't have much impact on farm fields because the recent warm weather has melted much of the frost in the soil.
