Schmid leads all-Big Eight hockey
Austin Schmid, who led the Verona Wildcats to a second-place finish in the Big Eight, has been named the conference’s Player of the Year.
Schmid compiled an 11-8-2 record in goal with a sparkling 1.83 goals per-game average. The senior had a 9.32 saves percentage and posted two shutouts.
Middleton’s Steve and Tony Libert were named Coach of the Year after leading the Cardinals to a
13-1 record and a Big Eight title.
Janesville’s co-op team had three players named honorable mention. Junior Cody Stettin and sophmore Cody Iverson were selected as forwards, while sophomore Ron Lindgren was chosen on defense. Stettin led the Bluebirds in conference scoring with 37 points, while Iverson was right behind with 36.
