Parkview girls advance

Stephanie Aasen and April Wellnitz were a dynamic duo for Orfordville Parkview High School’s girls basketball team Tuesday night.

Aasen and Wellnitz combined for 26 first-half points as the Vikings built a 19-point lead en route to a 60-41 victory over Wisconsin Heights in a WIAA Division 3 regional quarterfinal game.

Seventh-ranked Parkview (19-2) plays at fifth-ranked Belleville (22-1) in a regional semifinal game Thursday night.

The Rock Valley South champion Vikings got a game-high 18 points from Aasen and 12 from Wellnitz.

-- Belleville 56, New Glarus 31—The Wildcats held the Glarner Knights to single digits in each quarter to win a Division 3 regional opener.

Belleville (22-1), No. 5 in the Division 3 state rankings, plays No. 7 Orfordville Parkview (19-2) at Belleville on Thursday in the regional semifinals.

Quinn Rear scored 24 points to pace Belleville.

-- Waterloo 56, Turner 47—The Pirates (4-19) made 15 free throws to the Trojans’ five to win a Division 3 regional opener.

Waterloo (4-19), the No. 5 seed, plays at top-seed Deerfield (19-3) in Thursday’s regional semifinals. The winner draws Cambridge (12-11) or Marshall (10-13) in a regional title game Saturday that pairs into the Reedsburg Sectional.

Megan Grover scored 24 points, including 10 in the second quarter, to lead Turner (5-18). Tiffany Stout scored 20 points for Waterloo.

Cambridge (12-11) hosts Marshall (10-13) on Thursday night in a regional semifinal game that pairs into the Reedsburg Sectional.

Palmyra-Eagle finished the season 0-23.
