Brodhead up next for Crimson Tide
Edgerton High and Brodhead are set for a rematch of two of the Rock Valley Conference’s best in girls basketball.
The Crimson Tide (15-8), which finished second in the Rock Valley North, earned a second shot at South runner-up Brodhead by whipping Mount Horeb, 50-31, in a WIAA Division 2 regional opener Tuesday night.
Brodhead (15-8), a 51-36 winner in its only regular-season meeting, hosts Edgerton in a regional semifinal Thursday night. The winner plays top-ranked Monroe (21-1) or Platteville (15-8) on Saturday at Verona for the regional title and a berth in the upper bracket of the Janesville Craig Sectional.
Edgerton had an 11-2 lead after the first quarter and coasted past visiting Mount Horeb (4-19) for its 11th win in the last 13 games.
Whitney Oren led the Crimson Tide with 13 points.
Jamie Hoernke of Mount Horeb led all scorers with 18.

Dana Lewis had 13 points to lead Brodhead, and Riley Olson added 10. Sophomore Mallorie Phalin had 10 for Evansville.

Delavan-Darien (19-4) took control against the visiting Cougars (8-15) with a 24-9 advantage in the fourth quarter.
Courtney Flood added 20 points for the Comets, while Maggie Schultz had 15 points to lead the Cougars.
Delavan-Darien plays at second-seeded Cudahy (15-8) in Thursday’s regional semifinals. The winner plays top-seeded Union Grove (20-2) or Walworth Big Foot (13-9) on Saturday.

Haley Schwartz scored 12 of her 21 points in the fourth quarter to spark Big Foot.
Courtney Spangler scored 14 of her game-high 29 points in the first quarter for Big Foot.
