WCLO's Steve Benton reports on a proposed increase in passport fees

RSS

— Rock County Clerk, Lori Stottler, says the cost of passports may be rising soon.

The Federal Government is proposing increases in passports and renewals. If the changes go into affect, the cost of a passport for persons 16 years of age and older will be $135, an increase of $35. A passport for persons 15 years of age and younger would increase $20 to $105. A renewal would increase from $75 to $110.

Stottler says they were notified of the proposed fee increase March 1st and the deadline for public comment is March 10th. If you want to comment, address it to Passport Services, Bureau of Consular Affairs and the U.S. Department of State.

The U.S. Post Office handles passports in Beloit. Passports are good for ten years.
