Brodhead man killed Saturday in single-car crash

— A Brodhead man died Saturday night in a one-car crash near Brodhead.

Dustin D. Halvorson, 21, died at 9 p.m. on Ten Eyck Road, a half-mile west of Brodhead in Green County, according to a news release from the Green County Sheriff’s Office.

Halvorson was a Monroe native and a graduate of Brodhead High School, according to obituary information submitted to the Gazette. He was the father of two girls, according to the information.

Halvorson was westbound on Ten Eyck Road in a 1992 SUV when the vehicle left the road and crashed into a tree. The crash caused a small fire, the release states.

Halvorson was the only person in the vehicle and was pronounced dead by the Green County Coroner’s Office.

The Brodhead Fire Department and EMS responded along with sheriff’s deputies.

Halvorson was not wearing a seatbelt. This is the first fatal crash in Green County this year, the news release states.

A memorial fund will be established, according to Halvorson’s obituary. The D.L. Newcomer Funeral Home, Brodhead, is assisting the family.

i hate seeing stories like this.... one of my good friends went to school with him. sad to see such a young life taken like this... and now 2 young children left without a father....
