— Despite a late rally that sent the game to overtime, the University of Wisconsin women’s basketball team came up short Sunday afternoon in a Big Ten regular-season finale against Iowa.

The Badgers, behind a season-high crowd of 11,369 at the Kohl Center, rallied from a 13-point deficit early in the second half to force a 56-56 tie at the end of regulation, but the Hawkeyes went on to a 68-60 victory.

The loss left the Badgers

(20-9, 10-8) in a third-place tie with Iowa (17-12, 10-8).

The Hawkeyes hold the advantage in head-to-head play, with a two-game sweep of the Badgers, so Wisconsin will have the No. 4 seed in this week’s Big Ten tournament. Wisconsin plays Purdue on Friday at approximately 7:30 p.m. at Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.

Wisconsin was led by senior Rae Lin D’Alie’s 15 points. Sophomore Anya Covington posted her second career double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Junior Tara Steinbauer added 11 points for UW.

Kamille Wahlin was the game leader with 20 points for Iowa. The Hawkeyes also received 19 points and 14 rebounds from Kachine Alexander.

Iowa closed the first half with a 12-0 run, capped by a buzzer-beating three-pointer from Alexander, for a 33-21 lead.

Wisconsin trailed 48-41 when Jade Davis hit a three-pointer with 7:58 remaining to spark a 9-2 run. A lay-up by Steinbauer tied it at 50-50 with 6:02 left, but the Hawkeyes answered with two three-pointers to take the 56-50 lead with 2:17 to play.

D’Alie’s lay-up opened overtime and gave the Badgers their first lead since the 14:04 mark of the first half, but Iowa responded with a 7-0 run to take a 63-58 lead with 37 seconds to go.
