— A Cottage Grove police sergeant is expected to appear in Rock County Court in July after being arrested on a felony charge of attempted second-degree sexual assault stemming from an incident at his Edgerton home.

Douglas Kenney, 36, is accused of attempting to sexually assault a 28-year-old man, Rock County Sheriff’s Capt. Todd Christiansen said. Attempted second-degree sexual assault is described as sexual contact or sexual intercourse with a person who is unconscious.

Kenney was arrested June 14 and held in the Rock County Jail, Christiansen said. He was later released.

The incident occurred April 15, Christiansen said, and it was reported June 10.

Kenney is on paid administrative leave from the Cottage Grove Police Department, Chief John Gould said. He declined further comment.
