Suspect sought in bank robbery

— Police are searching for a man who robbed a Pell Lake bank and locked employees in the vault Thursday morning.

Town of Bloomfield police and Walworth County sheriff’s deputies were dispatched at about 10 a.m. to the First Banking Center, N1264 Park Road.

A customer walked into the bank, discovered the employees in the vault and called 911, according to police radio traffic at the time of the robbery.

The robber approached bank employees and demanded money and access to the vault, according to a news release from Bloomfield police. He took an undisclosed amount of cash and fled, according to the news release.

The robber is described as a white man, between 6 feet and 6 feet 3 inches tall with a slender to medium build, according to the release. He was wearing a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt, black cargo-style pants, a dark-colored baseball cap and black boots. He also was wearing sunglasses and a bandana over his face, according to the release.

Authorities set up roadblocks on Highway 12 and were searching vehicles leaving the area, according to police radio traffic.

Police are asking anyone with information about the robbery to call the Town of Bloomfield Police Department at (262) 279-3454, the Walworth County Sheriff’s Office at (262) 741-4400 or Walworth County Crime Stoppers at (262) 723-2677.
