The bat of Anne Tronnes and the arm of Erika Stampfli were the story in Rock Valley Conference softball this past season.

Stampfli averaged more than 12 strikeouts a game in leading Brodhead to the Rock Valley South title. The junior has been named the Player of the Year in the South and is one of four repeat selections on the first team. Brodhead’s Steve Krupke, who has won seven conference titles in his 10 years at the school, was named Coach of the Year.

Tronnes batted .548 in leading Edgerton to the Rock Valley North title. The junior and North Player of the Year, is one of three to repeat on the first team. The Crimson Tide’s Tony DeWar is the Coach of the Year.

Stampfli is joined on the first team for the second straight year by Turner junior Zoe Hale and senior Hillary Jordan, along with Brodhead junior Tia Collins.

In one of the most dominating pitching performances in the state this season, Stampfli struck out 21 Clinton batters in a 5-0 victory. Stampfli added 17 more against the Cougars later in the season to give her a staggering 38 strikeouts in two games against the Rock Valley South rival.

Tronnes was one of three Crimson Tide players on the first team. She was joined by junior shortstop Meggie Schmidt, who batted .532, along with senior pitcher Caitlin Johnson, who capped off a impressive career with a 12-1 record this season. Johnson joined East Troy junior Katie Ledwell joins Johnson and Tronnes as first team repeaters.
