— A high school coach has been accused of having sexual contact with 15-year-old student, the Rock County Sheriff’s Office announced Friday.

The accused was arrested on a charge of second-degree sexual assault, according to a news release.

The accused was an assistant track coach for Orfordville Parkview High School during this spring’s season, according to a news release.

“The alleged contact did not occur on school grounds or during any school-related function,” the news release states.

Parkview schools Superintendent Steve Lutzke said the student involved is female. He said the accused was suspended Friday, June 11, pending an investigation.

The accused was employed as a supervisor of the high school weight room for three to four months and was a volunteer assistant track coach, Lutzke said.

The school district heard a rumor about the situation on Friday and reported it, Lutzke said.

The accused, 23, is being held at the Rock County Jail pending a appearance in Rock County Court on Monday, the news release states.

The Gazette’s policy is to avoid naming sexual assault suspects until they have been formally charged or until prosecutors confirm that they will charge the suspect.
