State Representative questions UW appointment
A local Assemblyman takes University of Wisconsin officials to task over the choice of a new CEO.
Republican Steve Nass of Whitewater is crying foul over a high-level appointment for a top aide to Democratic Governor Jim Doyle. Nass says Department of Administration Secretary Michael Morgan did not have to compete against other candidates for the job of UW System Chief Operating Officer. Nass suggests the three year contract is intended to pad Morgan's retirement. Nass is also asking why UW System President Kevin Reilly didn't follow his normal practice of conducting a national search. Nass says other government employees have to compete for their jobs, and this helps find the best and brightest for a position.
Nass wants the UW to rescind the appointment.
