— The public hearing on the 2010-11 budget for Blackhawk Technical College is set for 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the main campus.

The regular meeting of the BTC Board will follow at approximately 7 p.m. The board’s agenda includes adoption of the budget, which calls for spending $49.19 million in the coming fiscal year.

The budget would require a projected $20.59 million tax levy, a decline of 1 percent from this year’s levy.

A copy of the budget can be found online at blackhawk.edu/board.

The hearing will be in the board room of the Administrative Center on the campus, 6004 S. County G, between Janesville and Beloit.

Also at Wednesday’s meeting, the board is scheduled to:

-- Approve a three-year facilities plan that includes $400,000 in 2010-11 for a land purchase, for a future “traffic safety center.” The center, which would include an emergency-vehicle operations course, would be built in 2011-12, according to the plan.

-- Approve a contract for development of a new master plan for facilities. The recommended winner of the contract is Strang Architects of Madison, for $123,410.

-- Approve recommendations to give Superior Performance Recognition Awards to certain administrative employees. The board will discuss the recommendation in closed session and vote on it in open session.
