— A series of missed opportunities ended Milton High School’s girls soccer season on Thursday in a 3-2 WIAA Division 1 sectional semifinal loss to Kenosha Tremper at Ameche Field.

Tremper, a No. 2 seed, will face top-seeded Kenosha Bradford in Saturday’s sectional final at 1 p.m. at Badger High School. Bradford advanced with a 1-0 victory over Racine Case.

Milton coach Bobby Nichols said his team missed three breakaways and hit the crossbar, and that was just in the second half.

“We missed two point-blank shots in the first half, too,” Nichols said. “It was a big game that we let slip through our hands. We just couldn’t put the ball away.”

The third-seeded Red Hawks finished 15-7.

“I thought we controlled 70 percent of the game, at least,” added Nichols, who said the three missed breakaways in the second half were all in the last 10 minutes.

Milton’s top two goal scorers each found the net.

Senior Amber Davis, who led the Red Hawks with 33 goals this season, converted at the 61:09 mark with an assist from Roherty.

Roherty, a junior who had 31 goals, scored at 67:47 off a pass from Sara Spaulding.

Tremper’s Jessica Laurenz scored the lone first-half goal. Tara Larson scored early in the first half, and Haley Celedre scored the winner at 61:46, less than a minute after Davis’ goal.

Milton senior goalkeeper Sloane Hecimovich had eight saves.
