TO WATCH

The “Discover Wisconsin” episode featuring Evansville will air at 6:30 p.m. Saturday on Madison’s WKOW Channel 27 and Rockford’s WIFR Channel 23. The show also airs at various times on Janesville cable public access channel, 98/994.

— Evansville will be the featured location on the “Discover Wisconsin” episode airing this weekend on television stations around the Midwest.

The episode is the culmination of about a year of filming in the area and at events as part of a marketing package the city is paying for with its hotel tax.

The city celebrated the show with a premiere party Thursday night in Lake Leota Park.

The city is spending $36,000 over three years on a marketing package with Discovery Mediaworks that includes the production of the “Discover Wisconsin” episode, radio programming, website features, trade shows and advertising.

The show reaches 8.1 million homes in seven states.

City Administrator Dan Wietecha said he expects the marketing package will draw people to the city for day trips or vacations within a vacation—for example, campers at Lake Koshkonong looking to leave the campground for a day.

He said the package also will be a good marketing tool for potential residents or businesses.

what is most disturbing is gina knows the facts of this story. But chose to leave them out. Like the fact that evansville paid for this. I wonder hiw much that charede at the park cost and who paid for it. Excuse me I did find where she put it. 36k down the drain or should we say lake. What happened to the boat rental down there at the lake I see that is gone.

I'm a little confused about the Discover Wisconsin TV show that will be airing the Evansville show this weekend. After reading the article - are they saying that Evansville paid for them to do a show about their city? Does that mean that all of the shows on the various areas / cities have to pay in order for Discover Wisconsin to do a show? I understand that the Discover Wisconsin has to make money for salaries and such, but I'm wondering if all the places they do programs on have to pay the TV show money upfront or at a later time.
