Defending champ Edgewood downs Turner en route to state, other scores

There was no stopping defending champion Madison Edgewood on its march back to the WIAA Division 2 state baseball tournament.


The Crusaders topped Turner, 15-5 in six innings, Wednesday in the semifinals of the Evansville Sectional, then held on for an 8-6 win over Mauston in the championship game.


Mauston (20-8) edged Prairie du Chien, 2-1, in the frist semifinal game.


Edgewood (18-8) will continue its title defense with a state semifinal game against Milwaukee University School at 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 15, in Grand Chute.


Turner finishes 18-6.
