Hick’s homer not enough for Beloit

— The Beloit Snappers suffered their second straight loss to the host Lake County Captains, 6-1, in Midwest League baseball Wednesday.

Beloit starter Michael Tonkin (0-3) took the loss, getting tagged for five unearned runs in 5 2/3 innings.


Aaron Hicks, the Minnesota Twins’ 2008 first-round draft pick, hit a solo homer in the first inning for the Snappers’ lone run.


The Captains were held to three hits but benefitted from three Snappers’ errors and five walks. Beloit manager Nelson Prada was ejected in the fifth inning.
