Both business and education come together to make a four-year nursing degree possible through UW-Rock County.

Mercy Hospital in Janesville, and St. Mary's Janesville Hospital, are working together to improve the quality of the local nursing workforce. Both have pledged tens of thousands of dollars to the program. During a signing ceremony on campus Thursday, UW-Rock County Dean Diane Pillard called it a three way collaboration. Students would start at UW-Rock County and work on their general education credits, get an associate nursing degree throught Blackhawk Technical College, and finish up by internet at UW-Oshkosh.

Officials say the program should help keep more students closer to home, after the complete their education.
