One inning costs Janesville Parker
A tough third inning ended Janesville Parker High’s softball season.
The Vikings had two runners picked off in the top of the third, and two errors led to four unearned runs in the bottom of the inning as Westosha Central defeated visiting Parker, 5-2, in a WIAA Division 1 regional semifinal Tuesday.
“I wish we could take back that third inning,” Parker coach Jenni Seisser said.
Westosha Central catcher Randi Rederer picked off Viking runners on first and second in the third inning. Rederer also went 2-for-3, including a double.
Parker committed errors in the first and second innings, but got out of both innings. The Vikings weren’t as fortunate in the third when two errors combined with a single, double and triple led to five Falcon runs.
The Vikings scored their runs in the fifth inning when Ashley Ross hit a two-out double to right center to score two runners. A perfect relay throw cut down Ross trying to stretch the hit into a triple.
Parker finished 4-18. Westosha is 16-6.
