Assembly Speaker Mike Sheridan and Wisconsin Department of Transportation Secretary Frank Busalacchi used the Janesville Cow as a backdrop to announce progress in plans to expand I-39/90 from four lanes to six, from the stateline to Madison.

Sheridan says the expansion is a critical move toward economic stabity and strength in Rock County and across Wisconsin. Busalachi says congestion will continue to increase to unacceptable levels if nothing is done. The project is not yet in the budget or scheduled.

If all goes well, road work for the $1 billion project would begin in 2015.
